Handy props

Updated: Jan 26, 2022

Yoga props (or equipment) are a helpful addition to your yoga practice. Some are designed to support with balance, some to promote flexibility and some are there for comfort. They surely are helpful. But what if you don't have them handy when you need them?

Not a problem at all! Replace them with objects and items from your household.

Yoga blocks - You can easily replace block with a couple of large and thick books. Stuck them on top of each other to manage the height. Be mindful of any binding or book covers that may be slippery or uncomfortable to hold on to.

Yoga strap - Replace it with a long belt, a tight scarf or a towel.

Zafu and bolster - Easily replaceable by a couple of chunky cushions. A great option are sofa seat cushions, they are thicker and larger, perfect for replacing bolsters at restorative sessions.

Throws and towels - Get your favourite towel or sofa throw, fold it until you get the perfect width.

And there is no limit to creativity. If you have better ideas or favourite replacements, share them here.
