Yoga therapy is an integrative healthcare modality based on yoga's therapeutic benefits. The growing research body confirms the effectiveness of yoga tools in empowering individuals toward well-being.

Yoga offers not only asanas (physical postures) but also a vast array of techniques such as pranayama (breathing exercises), meditation, lifestyle changes, mindset tools, and philosophy to help individuals improve their well-being. Yoga therapy sessions incorporate some or all of the techniques above to address dis-ease or discomfort in the body, mind, and spirit.

How does it work?

Yoga therapy sessions are designed for an individual (or a small group of people with similar conditions). Prior to your session, you will have an individualised assessment of your health and fitness through observations of posture, questions about your lifestyle and general health conditions, and observation through the yogic anatomy of the human being which includes the emotional, mental, social, and spiritual elements. Yoga therapy is not a medical consultation and does not provide a diagnosis or medical solutions.

However, your medical conditions and history will be taken into account when designing your therapy sessions.

The purpose of a yoga therapy session is to empower you to find the blissful balance within yourself.

How does yoga therapy compare to other practices?

Yoga therapy considers all aspects of your well-being and how they interact. Most healthcare systems are focusing on "fixing" the parts of the system and offering solutions for managing the symptoms (pathogenesis - a disease-based model of healthcare).

Yoga therapy, in contrast, is a health-based model - it focuses on creating holistic well-being (salutogenesis).

Yoga therapy accelerates injury recovery and stimulates age reversal.
